I have heart disease discovered when I was 37 years old and I am now 57. Every cardiologist I have been to over the years within the first 10-15 minutes of a consultation the cardiologist is closing hard on scheduling me for a medical procedure. Many times this happened with no medical exam just by hearing a little of my story and glancing at an EKG. I have had reasonably low cholesterol (150-180) my whole life but also struggled with high liver enzymes my whole adult life too (and not a drinker), yet when I would ask cardiologists about the side effects of taking the heart related drugs (beta blockers & statons) they would be almost outright perturbed I'd even have the gull to ask about these things. If they gave me an answer it was simple...like we know your cholesterol is too high for you so you need to take these drugs. Really? Based on my own research, I have always been leery of beta blockers and statons (with high liver enzymes) and feel the side affects of taking the drugs was worse than the actual risk of the disease (especially when I was feeling good). These beliefs and cardiologist experiences left me cynical to say the least and anti-normal medicine at worst. About six months ago I started to have some angina pains that concerned me enough to seek out a doctor. Being sick of normal medicine I scheduled an appointment with my alternative doctor which I had not seen in like ten or more years (shame on me). He immediately put me on a series of vitamins and supplements and the Paelo Diet. He also referred me to a local cardiologist where guess what...the exact same thing happened only this cardiologist was more rude than most and was clearly insulted I'd even ask any single question. Shortly after that less than positive consultation, I was searching on Amazon for Paleo products and happened to search the words "Paleo Cardiologist" and The Paleo Cardiologist book popped into my screen. It took me all of about two seconds to decide to buy the kindle version of the book. I started reading the book and couldn't put it down. I am not an avid reader, but I read this book in 2-3 days in my spare time. Many of the things Dr Jack Wolfson said in the book and his recommendations were similar to what I had already researched and lined up with what my own alternative doctor told me. I was actually shocked there was any cardiologist on the planet who might prescribe an alternate path to health other than stent(s), open heart surgery and/or a slew of drugs with side effects. I decided I wanted to be around for my grand kids graduating school and getting married and made the decision I was going to change my lifestyle no matter what, that is a big decision but easy once you make it. For the sake of seeing my grand kids get married I said good bye to to pasta, bread, flour, gluetin, sugar, snacks, chips, Chinese food, cheese, eating out, etc, etc, etc. It wasn't easy at the beginning and I am till learning and making changes but I have been following the Paleo lifestyle, supplements and many of the lifestyle changes outlined in this book. I have learned to enjoy my greens smoothie in the morning and am not hating eating roasted vegetables, a salad and a grass fed piece of beef or other meet/poultry everyday. My angina pain is mostly gone (and seem to be improving with each passing day) and I have more energy and vitality. I should mention I had lost 25lbs prior to starting the Paleo lifestyle, but dropped another 30lbs in short order after making these changes. I am now lighter than at any time in my adult life. I was so impressed with what was happening with my health, I decided to book an appointment to see Dr Jack Wolfson in person at his offices in Arizona. As you can imagine, that is not a cheap trip by time you add up the office fee, air travel, rental car, hotel, etc. but if I am taking control of my own health that means seeking out people who I think might actually help. I spent 75 minutes with Dr. Jack Wolfson and was literally shocked at the experience and the information he gave me. First, he told me where the location of the pains were not even consistent with angina and could be something else. He also said the level of discomfort and lack of other symptoms he would not even recommend a medical procedure at this time. He told me the truth that a medical procedure with stents would not statistically reduce my chance of a heart attack and or actually dying. How scary is that but utterly refreshing? He gave me 42 new things to incorporate into my lifestyle (just kidding but the list is long) and I intend to do as many as possible. Now that the office visit is over, I decided to reread the book. Along the way my wife joined me without my asking. I think she saw the results of what was happening and must have decided she wanted it for herself too. The good news is you don't have to give up your normal doctor to do this, you can continue doing all of that but just add these lifestyle changes. What have you got to loose other than maybe your own life if you do nothing? Think about it...maybe big pharma and big medicine is in it just for the money. If there is even the slightest chance that is true then my question to you is simple...who is looking out for you? Start with buying this book and giving it serious consideration.
We live in a world where everything seems upside down, especially in our healthcare and medical system.We have barely escaped the time when a doctor dared to suggest that doctors wash their hands between autospies and delivering babies which in the long run landed him in an insane asylum where he died.Everywhere we turn, we are being poisoned through our food, water, drugs, vaccines and our choices in the grocery store are getting slim.One of my great salvations, is to turn to the holistic experts to help make sense of it all.I appreciate Dr. Wolfson’s knowledge and expertise and for his courage to breakAway from the status quo. He is not afraid to stand alone and he triumphs every time.Thank God for his chance ( more like destined timeline of great love) meeting at the farmer’s market where he met his now lovely wife, who is a chiropractor and the mother of his children. They are a beautiful family to follow and learn from.My heart went out to Dr. Wolfson in his book as he described his struggles when he was trying to implement his new ideas among a system that does not want to change.I am a holistic caregiver and I take care of the elderly. I know a little of what it is like to stand up to a doctor or dentist who is in the mainstream.I had a recent experience where I had to tell an oral surgeon and dentist that no, my patient would not being getting a second root canal over the old root canal. It is bad enough that he had the first root canal, but to be told he needed a second is archaic medicine. Dr. Wolfson goes over the dangers of root canals in his book.Another recent experience was being yelled at because he was NOT on Warfarin, even though he was on Boluoke which has been used in Chinese hospitals safely now for a long time. His blood was normal, not too thick and not to thin.My favorite thing about Dr. Wolfson is he takes people off Warfarin and replaces it with natural choices instead. Very few doctors will dare to do this, even those who are Integrative because of the criticism of their peers.Dr. Wolfson is filling a great gap that is needed in the holistic field. We have so many Integrative doctors, but very few natural or Integrative cardiologists. Very few cardiologists will agree with an Integrative’s doctors supplements and lack of drugs, so the care usually falls apart when the patient goes for their annual check up.I really recommend anyone who wants to learn the latest news to prevent heart attacks and strokes and who wants to have a healthy family in this very trying time we are in.Dr. Wolfson is a voice of reason and I will be tuning into what he has to say, for a very long time. Thank you so much for your book, your desire to be a light for us all and for your courage.
This book is a must read for everyone interested in bettering their health...not just heart health.He talks about everything in your life from food, personal care products, water, sleep, things you use in your house and of course the danger in vaccines. The world we live in has so many toxins that it is killing us and making us sick. The book is packed with information that will change your life for the better.I couldn't put this book down. I read it knowing that I was already doing some of these things to make my life better. I had already been eliminating toxic ingredients from my life but after heart attack last year and stent procedure, I knew I had to get off the dangerous rx meds that my former cardiologist put me on.I am as pleased as one can be with Dr. Wolfson as my new cardiologist. He is not only a cardiologist but a great whole health advocate as well. He and his wife are wonderful people with great knowledge on the toxic dangers lurking in our world. Their knowledge is second-to-none. His staff are friendly and extremely knowledgeable as well....a great shout out to Emily for all her practical and technical knowledge with recipes and supplements! I am blessed to find a doctor that believes in the same things that I have been researching and implementing in my life even before I started seeing him.
